I was brought up to believe if you came across a cassowary to put a fence, or another person, between you and it. Those birds can be seriously mean (and have a very nasty kick).

I'm not sure you should have been feeding as Cassowary. I agree with the above...they have nasty big claws and are known to attack people. I saw Steve Irwin get attacked once. I also saw a Cassowary eating its own poo at the zoo. Eeew.

Didn't a poet once warn that you should never kiss a Cassowary? Or cass a Kissowary? I can't remember.
