Do inspiration and vocabulary go through cycles? I haven't noticed any rhythm. Nor do I know of any way to pump them back up when they're down. Best to go and do something that doesn't rely on them--stuff that could get in the way when your muse finally returns.

Pull-switch! Augh! I knew it was SOMETHING along those lines, but "light-pull" was the best I could do. Ha, ha. Man, I'm such an idiot.

As far as inspiration goes, I've always found that sometimes it's there and sometimes it isn't--no real rhythm or logic to it (though getting enough sleep doesn't hurt). I find the only thing to do is just grin and keep working, no matter how lame or stilted it feels. You can't just wait for inspiration to come along. Sometimes, if you start working anyway, inspiration catches up with you. Other times, it doesn't, but at least you got SOMETHING done. Today, it definitely didn't. Oh, man. (It's even worse with writing than with drawing, because it's harder to tell where you messed up. There's no way to tell at a glance--you have to read every word.)

Here's hoping it goes better tomorrow.

I looked up that No White Before Labour Day thing. Apparently it's got to do with wearing summer colours (white) during summer only. Not terribly exciting at all.

Good luck with your writing, and your allergies.

I wanted to post something clever here but I'm temporarily (I hope) out of inspiration.

It's rained here for over a week and the rivers up north have spilled their banks, providing full employment for all local news reporters. Closer to home, in the middle of the sidewalk next to the Turkish restaurant's dumpster, I stepped around two freshly killed mice. They were still there, in slightly smaller, flatter pieces, the next day.
