![]() November 26, 2001Think Of Them as Beany-BoppersThis has been another odd day, and I didn't get much work done. I kept falling asleep. Come to think about it, I'm tired even now. I woke up the first time at around three o'clock. I thought my alarm clock was going off, but it was really the phone. By the time I realized that banging on the alarm clock wasn't doing anything, I'd missed the call. Dammit. I hate when that happens. I couldn't get the number with #69, either. It was one of those anonymous calls, the ones where they press *67 so you can't see who's calling. Pain in the arse, that. I got up after that, and answered a couple of e-mails. I also filled the print orders that had accumulated while I slept. I always make a point of filling orders as soon as I see them. That way, I can't possibly forget about them. I sold four copies of Bad Rats #4 today. I wasn't surprised. People always buy that print. It's my most popular one. I wish I could figure out just what it is people like so much about that particular picture, so I could do more like it. Chad Lockwood also e-mailed me today about Epilogue's recently-opened prints section. Apparently, I was the first one to sell a print. And guess which one got sold? Yeah, that's right. Bad Rats #4. I like the way that one turned out, all right, but I think some of the other Bad Rats pictures are better. Maybe it's the theme people like. It's got that whole fairy-tale thing going on. After I finished writing e-mails and shipping prints, I curled up on the couch with a newspaper, intending to read it for a while, but I fell asleep. It was dark when I woke up again, and more e-mails had arrived. I got lots of fan mail today, for some reason. I don't usually get much fan mail. I was glad to see it, since this wasn't a particularly good day in any other way. I mean, selling all those prints was all right, but there was my uncharacteristic lethargy on the other side of the scale, balancing my day into mediocrity. I usually have more energy than this. I must have PMS, or something. I'm in a very snotty mood, and all. Yes. Probably PMS. I thought that was supposed to be last week. Maybe I haven't been eating enough. Or maybe I've been eating too many potatoes. (Does that have an effect?) Augh. I'm rambling horribly. Who cares about potatoes and PMS? I don't even care about this stuff, and I'm the one talking about it. Sad. Anyway. I ordered some dinner from Milestone's--toast with goat cheese and garlic (I made them send extra garlic this time, since they usually skimp on the garlic), and dry ribs. I didn't know what dry ribs were. That's why I ordered them. I wish I hadn't. They were pretty boring, just little fried pieces of pork that had been dehydrated until their consistency was comparable to old boot leather. They had pepper on them, but I scraped it off to avoid getting heartburn. Unfortunately, without the pepper they were almost entirely devoid of flavour. After dinner, I worked on my video for a while, but I kept making mistakes. Stupid ones, too. No, this is not my day. I saved over a couple of clips I'd spent ages editing, and had to do them again. It was a blessing in disguise, though--I did a better job the second time around. Hey, maybe I should delete them ALL and start again! (Riiiight.) When I got tired of that, I took some sketches to bed, and worked on those until I dozed off again. And now I'm awake. Sort of. Woo-hoo? I think I'm going to watch a movie. I get movie channels with my cable subscription, so there's always something on, regardless of the hour. I think I'll see just what it is I'm paying for tonight. I'm not up for more work. I'm not in pain precisely, but I'm very uncomfortable. Working is out of the question. I'd do a terrible job if I tried to work right now. I'd probably draw antennae on things out of sheer cussedness. Horses with antennae, rats with antennae, people with antennae...buildings with antennae. I think everything looks funny with antennae on it. Especially if you think of them as "beany-boppers". All right, enough of this. I'm off my head tonight. I'm going to stop bothering the Internet now. << The Eyetooth Man | Main | Bugger! >> |
